A BIT ABOUT US

 

At Warburtons, we are a real family bakers, still owned and run by the Warburton family. Five generations’ worth of expertise goes into making our products and allows us to continue a tradition of baking which began back in 1876.

Our purpose is simple. To delight families every day with a range of great quality products to suit all meal occasions, lifestyles and tastes.

Our family business 

 

Our business began back in 1876 when Ellen Warburton started baking bread. Ellen’s first batch of four loaves of bread and six cakes sold out in under an hour.

Within two weeks, the tiny shop in Bolton, in the North-West of England, was renamed ‘Warburtons the Bakers’ and has continued to go from strength-to-strength ever since. 

All those years on and Warburtons remains a private family-owned business, actively managed by the fifth generation, Jonathan, Ross and Brett.

Five generations’ worth of expertise goes into making our products, and the one thing all our products have in common is their quality.

Some may say we’re fanatical about making sure everything we bake is the very best it can be, from testing the softness of our products to the crumb strength and butterability (yep, that’s a thing!).

We took that Warburtons baking experience, added a generous helping of passion, another of enthusiasm and mixed in some gluten free know-how. The result is a range of gluten, wheat and milk free products that you can enjoy any time of the day.
